Paloma Mejia

Su trabajo explora el cuerpo femenino como un territorio político y sensible, a partir de una mirada autobiográfica. Su práctica artística, centrada en el cuerpo y la materialidad, es una investigación escultórica expandida: integra escultura, joyería, instalación, objeto y fotografía, desdibujando los límites entre disciplinas. Utiliza materiales como la cera, el bronce y el oro, tensionando las tradiciones de la escultura y la orfebrería y abordando nociones de fragilidad y memoria corporal. Sus instalaciones y esculturas funcionan como extensiones del propio cuerpo, generando experiencias físicas y emocionales desde una dimensión íntima y política a la vez, mientras operan como dispositivos de enunciación y confrontación.
Comenzó sus estudios de Artes Visuales en el IUNA y se licenció en Curaduría y Gestión de Arte en ESEADE. Se formó en joyería y gemología en la Escuela de la Joya de Buenos Aires y en talleres particulares en París y Buenos Aires. Participó del programa de artistas «El Oráculo» en Santa Fe. Realizó clínica de obra y talleres con diversos artistas argentinos. Fue asesora del GCBA en el Distrito de las Artes y dirigió el programa MALBA Joven.
Recibió el Premio Itaú de Artes Visuales y el Premio Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales de Junín. Ha sido seleccionada para el Salón Provincial de Artes Visuales de Buenos Aires, el Premio MACSUR de Artes Visuales y el Salón de Artes Plásticas Manuel Belgrano.
Su obra ha sido exhibida en el Centro Cultural Recoleta, Untitled Miami, SP Arte, el Museo Sívori, el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo del Sur y el Teatro Argentino, entre otras instituciones, ferias y galerías en Argentina, Brasil, España, Alemania, República Checa y Francia.
Vive y trabaja entre Buenos Aires y París. Es artista de ODA (Buenos Aires), Bianca Boeckel (San Pablo) y Bold Gallery (Praga).

Her work explores the female body as a political and sensitive territory through an autobiographical lens. Centered on the body and materiality, her artistic practice operates as an expanded sculptural investigation that integrates sculpture, jewelry, installation, objects, and photography, dissolving the boundaries between disciplines. She works with materials such as wax, bronze, and gold, challenging the traditions of sculpture and jewelry-making while addressing notions of fragility and bodily memory. Her installations and sculptures often function as extensions of her own body, generating physical and emotional experiences from an intimate yet political perspective, while operating as devices of enunciation and confrontation.
She began her studies in Visual Arts at IUNA and holds a degree in Curatorial Studies and Art Management from ESEADE. She trained in jewelry and gemology at the Escuela de la Joya de Buenos Aires and through independent workshops in Paris and Buenos Aires. She participated in the artist program El Oráculo in Santa Fe and completed studio critiques and workshops with various Argentine artists. She served as an advisor to the Buenos Aires City Government (GCBA) within the Arts District and directed the MALBA Joven program.
She has received the Itaú Award for Visual Arts and the Junín National Salon Award for Visual Arts. She has been selected for the Buenos Aires Provincial Visual Arts Salon, the MACSUR Visual Arts Award, and the Manuel Belgrano Salon of Plastic Arts.
Her work has been exhibited at Centro Cultural Recoleta, Untitled Miami, SP Arte, Museo Sívori, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo del Sur, and Teatro Argentino, among other institutions, fairs, and galleries in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, and France.
